Every man should write…

and today I will write to you why that is and how writing will make a life of excellence.

The act of writing in itself connects the metaphysical mind to the physical motor function of the hand. Personally, I believe the magic of writing lies in this connection.

Writing gives you absolute freedom, you are basically free to write about anything.

Writing can also be liberating from excessive thoughts, negative mental patterns and stuck emotions.

Writing does what therapy claims to do.

It organizes the mind, brings perspective, and it can be used to construct the future of one's being.

Not too long ago I made a post together with my friend and mentor Sim. The post was about journaling and the importance of it and covered 5 points why men should write:

Storing information is an energy demanding task. Writing liberates from excessive thoughts and brings more free space to the mind.
By journaling about your patterns you are forced to see your lies and flaws. Writing is the ultimate self-reflection because you visualize on paper what you did/are doing.
Writing is in and of itself an exercise in ordering the mind, because it forces you to structure and construct an experience. The mind is abstract and vague while the written word is clear and precise.
Healthy detachment: writing brings some distance between you and your emotions, leaving room to observe and make grounded decisions.
Writing helps with reminding yourself of your values, goals, and vision. Sometimes we need a reminder instead of remembering things.

Two powerful writing exercises:

Write down your values and be crystal clear what these are. Most people just live without even considering what their values are. They kinda have an idea, and that’s the problem. You have to know how you want to live life, hence be clear on your values.
Stop writing to-do lists, instead write not-to-do lists. A not-to-do list is a list that points out all the things you shouldn’t be doing. Basically setting healthy restriction for your personal development and growth.
