I'd like to continue the email on understanding and communication as it helped me in the past (and still up today) with growth.

Today we will break down the different parts of communication so we can understand how real communication works.

The Anatomy of Communication

Communication consists of consideration or intent. You have to consider first what message you would like to share, there is an intent behind it as well - the message carries a goal that you want to reach. The problem is that many fail to have a clear consideration, what they actually want to say and what message they want to deliver.

Like I already said, intention is part of communication too. What to know about intent is that when there is a lack of it you will have difficulties in communicating and being heard. If there is no intent, the communication weakens and people might not hear you. Intent has a lot to do with yourself as well = when you are living in truth and your actions are pure, your intent will be visible and heard. Intent is the authentic energy behind your message.

Attention is required for successful communication. Many people have the attention span of a goldfish. Don't be that person. Life is about giving and receiving, same with communication. When there is attention, you give time and effort to give or receive a message. But attention is more magical than that,... attention follows attention, so the more present your attention & interest is, the more attention will be generated in the other person too. The find someones attention easily, place your attention and interest in them - and so you will receive attention back.

Origin - Distance & Effect are next. The point of origin is the person who starts the communication, which then travels through a distance via a medium (voice, phone call, chat) to eventually being delivered and having an effect. Good to know is that the quality of communication depends on proximity, for example: an email has more distance and more "noise" than a phone call, or than a one on one conversation. The more proximity there is, the better communication and the better the delivery and effect.

Another part of communication is duplication. Duplication is basically making a copy of the message that has been delivered. Duplication is key for good communication: it makes an end to the cycle of communication. Duplication allows a person to feel understood, and understanding is the key to success. If you feel understood or you understand the person then we can talk about successful communication, and a failure in duplication is often the cause of misunderstanding.
