What is shilajit?

Shilajit, also known as the conqueror of mountains and the destroyer of weakness is a mineral resin that is naturally formed from decomposed plant matter that has been pressurized over hundreds of years by mountain rocks. The shilajit is extracted through a process that includes water which is used to separate the rocks from the resin. The result is a tar-like pitch-black sticky substance that has a burned smell.

Why Shilajit & What Are The Benefits?

Shilajit is rich in 80+ minerals that are bound to fulvic and humic acids along with dibenzo-α-pyrones, which act as a carrier of other substances.

Some of the known minerals in Shilajit are Iron, Sodium, Potassium, Magnesium, Zinc, Selenium, Copper, Molybdenum, Calcium, Cobalt, Silicon, and Chromium, and contains lesser-known minerals like indium, iridium, gold, boron, etc.

Amino acids in shilajit: Alanine, Arginine, Cysteine, Leucine, Threonine, Valine, Histidine, Methionine, Lysine.

And shilajit contains C-60 (carbon 60) - the most powerful antioxidant known to man. Part of the reason Shilajit has a higher ORAC (antioxidant) value than wild blueberries.

Shilajit, Men's Health & Testosterone

A study showed that men aged 45 to 55 who took purified shilajit (250mg) over a period of 90 days had significantly increased levels of total testosterone, free testosterone, and dehydroepiandrosterone (DHEAS) compared to men receiving a placebo. The researchers also noted that gonadotropic hormone levels (LH and FSH) were well maintained.

Shilajit, your sperm’s best food: In a study, 60 infertile men consumed shilajit 200mg/day for a total of 90 days. Significant improvement was observed in sperm quality +37.6%, total sperm count +61.4%, motility 12.4–17.4%, and total testosterone +23.5% after 90 days.
