"As a man it is necessary to understand to foundations of masculine psychology. According to Neo Jungian psychologist Robert Moore, the male psyche is a construct of several archetypes known as the King, the Warrior, the Magician and the Lover.

An archetype is (in Jungian theory) a primitive mental image inherited from the earliest human ancestors, and supposed to be present in the collective unconscious.

Without these archetypes, the masculine wouldn’t exist. The archetypes are inherent to men’s existence. However what we see now is a deficiency of several archetypes or an excess. When we deal with a deficiency, the passive pole of the archetype becomes dominant and when in excess, the active pole becomes dominant. Both a deficiency and an excess have negative consequences. Finding a balance, a golden mean, can be achieved both by understanding and practice. From my own experience I found that the endocrine hormone testosterone plays a role in bringing back this centeredness, this equilibrium.

Once you understand the archetypes, how these can be accessed and what they stand for, life all of sudden becomes more clear to us. Everything starts to unfold.

Regarding relationships, once you start understanding yourself through the archetypes, you will comprehend others and their motives as well.

These archetypes are the precedent for behavior, thought and direction. Although we can access one of these archetypes in their fullness, it doesn’t mean the other archetypes disappear, they are still there to play their part. This is what I call holistic masculinity: integrating the four archetypes to become whole again. Men need to heal, and this primal image, this blueprint can help you achieve the completion you are looking for.
